DEADLINE: YERAC

The 48th YERAC will bring together early-career scientists in the field of radio astronomy to present and discuss their research. It is aimed at PhD-level researchers, though more junior scientists or recent graduates will be considered in exceptional cases. The programme consists of mandatory talks by the participants. In addition, there will be daily scientific events and invited talks to highlight the activities of JIVE, ASTRON and NOVA. Several social events are scheduled as well.

The deadline for YERAC applications is 1st June 2018

This year the YERAC is hosted by JIVE and ASTRON, at their headquarters in Dwingeloo, the Netherlands. As usual, accommodation and subsistence for all participants will be covered by the host institutes, with substantial support from RadioNet and the LKBF - a fund coordinated by Leiden University to support astronomical research. Transportation to the nearest train station (Hoogeveen) needs to be provided by the participant's institute.

Participation in YERAC is by recommendation. Due to logistical limitations up to 35 participants can be hosted. The LOC encourages diverse candidates, including people from racial minority backgrounds, LGBTQIA students, disabled students, and other under-represented minority students. Anyone with special needs or requirements is asked to contact the LOC to discuss how we can best accommodate them.

We ask candidates to proceed with the registration as soon as possible, late registrations will not be considered.

Each candidate is expected to provide a recommendation letter by their supervisor or institute director. The letter needs to include the topic of research, year when the PhD was started, year when the PhD should be finished, supervisors, a brief (~1 page A4) summary of the candidate's resume, and host institute. In case of candidates not in a PhD programme, it should be clarified that the candidate meets the same level of education as a junior PhD student. Recommendation letters should be e-mailed to the LOC by the registration deadline.

The LOC will select the participants by optimising for a diverse range of topics and participants. After final selection each participant is asked to submit a title and abstract for their contribution.
